01OFX

Install an OFX plugin

TETRA OFX plugins are GPU effects for DaVinci Resolve Studio (and Fusion Studio). The free edition of Resolve does not load third-party OFX, so check your edition first: Help → About DaVinci Resolve shows "Studio" in the title.

Steps

  1. Download the installer from your Gumroad receipt. Pick the build for your platform (macOS or Windows).
  2. Quit Resolve completely before installing.
  3. macOS: open the .pkg and follow the installer. It places the bundle in /Library/OFX/Plugins/. Windows: run the .exe installer. It places the bundle in C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\.
  4. Relaunch Resolve Studio. The first launch after an install takes longer while plugins are scanned.
  5. Open the Edit, Color or Fusion page. In the Effects panel, open OpenFX → Filters and find the TETRA group.
  6. Drag the effect onto a clip (Edit page) or add it as an OFX node (Color page). Controls appear in the Inspector or the OpenFX panel.

Manual install

If you prefer not to run an installer, unzip the .ofx.bundle folder and copy it into the plugins folder named above. Create the Plugins folder if it does not exist. Admin rights are required on both platforms.

Troubleshooting

  • The effect is missing from the list: confirm you are on Resolve Studio, then relaunch. The free edition hides all third-party OFX.
  • Resolve says the plugin failed to load: delete the OFX cache (~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/OFXPluginCache.xml on macOS, %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\OFXPluginCache.xml on Windows) and relaunch.
  • macOS blocks the bundle as "unidentified developer": right-click the .pkg and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  • The render is black or slow: make sure GPU processing is enabled in Preferences → Memory and GPU, and that your driver is current.
  • Still stuck: send us your Resolve version, OS and GPU via the contact form, with Install help selected.
02DCTL

Install a DCTL

DCTL files run natively in the Resolve node tree. They work in both the free edition and Resolve Studio.

Steps

  1. Download the .dctl file (or the zip containing it) from your Gumroad receipt and unzip if needed.
  2. Open the Resolve LUT folder: macOS: /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/LUT Windows: C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT The quickest route is Project Settings → Color Management → Open LUT Folder.
  3. Copy the .dctl file into that folder. A subfolder such as LUT/TETRA/ keeps things tidy and is fully supported.
  4. Back in Resolve, open Project Settings → Color Management and click Update Lists. No restart is needed.
  5. On the Color page, add a node and open the OpenFX panel. Under ResolveFX Color → DCTL, drag the DCTL effect onto the node.
  6. In the DCTL List dropdown, pick the TETRA file. Its controls appear directly below.

Notes

  • Some DCTLs ship with a matching .h header file. Keep both files together in the same folder.
  • DCTLs are per-machine, not per-project. Install on every workstation that opens the project.

Troubleshooting

  • The file does not appear in the DCTL List: click Update Lists again, then check the file extension is exactly .dctl and not .dctl.txt.
  • The node shows a red error and no image: the file may have been edited or truncated. Re-download from Gumroad and replace it.
  • Controls are missing: make sure you added the effect via DCTL under ResolveFX Color, not via the LUT browser.
  • Permissions error when copying on macOS: the folder lives in /Library, so Finder asks for an admin password. That is expected.
  • Still stuck: send your Resolve version and a screenshot of the node via the contact form, with Install help selected.
03DRFX

Install a DRFX bundle

A .drfx file is a bundle of Fusion templates (transitions, titles, effects, generators). Installing it is a double-click. Works in the free edition and Resolve Studio.

Steps

  1. Download the .drfx file from your Gumroad receipt. Unzip if it arrived inside a zip.
  2. Make sure DaVinci Resolve is running, with any project open.
  3. Double-click the .drfx file. Resolve asks to confirm the install and reports how many templates were added.
  4. Open the Edit page. The templates appear in the Effects panel under Toolbox → Titles, Transitions, Effects or Generators, inside a TETRA folder.
  5. Drag a template onto the timeline. Adjust its controls in the Inspector.

Alternative install

If double-clicking does nothing, drag the .drfx file onto the Resolve window, or open the Fusion page and use Fusion → Import Fusion Composition for a single template.

Where files end up

Resolve unpacks the bundle into its template folder: macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Templates Windows: %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens on double-click: Resolve must be open first. Open it, then try again or drag the file onto the window.
  • Templates are not in the Effects panel: restart Resolve once after installing.
  • The template shows "Media Offline" or missing fonts: install the font named in the product page, then reload.
  • The install dialog reports zero templates: the download is incomplete. Re-download from Gumroad.
  • Still stuck: send your Resolve version and OS via the contact form, with Install help selected.
04LUT

Install a LUT

TETRA LUTs ship as .cube files. They load in DaVinci Resolve (free and Studio), Premiere Pro, After Effects and most camera monitors.

DaVinci Resolve

  1. Open Project Settings → Color Management and click Open LUT Folder, or go there directly: macOS: /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/LUT Windows: C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\LUT
  2. Copy the .cube files (or the whole TETRA folder) into that folder.
  3. Click Update Lists in Project Settings → Color Management.
  4. On the Color page, open the LUTs panel (top left). Find the TETRA folder and drag a LUT onto a node.

Premiere Pro

  1. Select a clip and open the Lumetri Color panel.
  2. Under Creative → Look, open the dropdown and choose Browse.
  3. Pick the .cube file. The look is applied to that clip and listed in the dropdown for the session.
  4. For a permanent entry, copy the file into Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/<version>/Lumetri/LUTs/Creative/ and restart Premiere.

After Effects

  1. Apply Effect → Utility → Apply Color LUT to the layer.
  2. Choose the .cube file in the file dialog.

Troubleshooting

  • The LUT is not listed in Resolve: click Update Lists again and check the file ends in .cube.
  • The image looks far too contrasty or washed out: the LUT expects a specific input. Check the product page for the intended colour space (for example Rec.709 or a log format) and convert first.
  • Premiere shows the look very dark: Lumetri applies Looks after Basic Correction. Set exposure first, then apply the LUT.
  • Monitors with 17-point or 33-point limits: use the version marked for monitoring if the product includes one.
  • Still stuck: send your host app, version and camera colour space via the contact form, with Install help selected.
05Preset

Install a Premiere Pro or After Effects preset

TETRA presets come in two forms: effect presets (.prfpset) for Premiere Pro and motion graphics templates (.mogrt) for Premiere Pro and After Effects. Check which file you have before starting.

Premiere Pro effect presets (.prfpset)

  1. Download and unzip the preset file from your Gumroad receipt.
  2. Open the Effects panel (Window → Effects).
  3. Open the panel menu (the three lines in the top right corner) and choose Import Presets.
  4. Select the .prfpset file. A TETRA bin appears under Presets.
  5. Drag a preset onto a clip. Adjust its values in Effect Controls.

Motion graphics templates (.mogrt)

  1. Open the Essential Graphics panel (Window → Essential Graphics).
  2. In the Browse tab, click the Install Motion Graphics template button (bottom right) and pick the .mogrt file.
  3. The template appears under Local Templates Folder. Drag it to the timeline and edit its fields in the Edit tab.
  4. In After Effects, open Window → Essential Graphics, then use the panel menu → Install Motion Graphics template.

Troubleshooting

  • Import Presets is greyed out: click once inside the Effects panel to give it focus, then open the menu again.
  • The preset applies but nothing changes: the preset relies on built-in effects from a newer Premiere version. Update Premiere to the version listed on the product page.
  • The .mogrt shows missing fonts: install the font named in the product page, then reopen the project.
  • The template renders slowly: enable GPU acceleration under File → Project Settings → General → Renderer (Mercury Playback Engine GPU).
  • After Effects cannot open the .mogrt: templates made in Premiere are Premiere-only. Use the AE version if the product includes one.
  • Still stuck: send your app version and OS via the contact form, with Install help selected.
